This week, the Governance and Intergovernmental Relations Committee heard about a proposal to extend the time in which the mayor and city council decide on the budget, and to have more public input on the city’s budget. It’ll be back in committee on June 30th.
The Health and Safety Committee sent to the full council a change to rules concerning childcare centers. The updates will align Denver’s laws with the state’s required laws and make it easier to open a childcare facility in Denver..
And City Council passed a series of reforms on lobbying in the city. Lobbyists will have to report on who they contacted and what it was about, how much money was spent, and who was paying them. It also prohibits elected officials and some appointees from being a lobbyist for 12 months after they leave their city job.
