This week, the Budget and Policy Committee heard a new version of the franchise agreement between the city of Denver and Xcel Energy. The agreement failed to pass council last year over concerns about the lack of public outreach. Since then, Xcel representatives have had over 30 meetings since February.
The Health and Safety Committee heard about the Denver Police Department’s new education-based discipline program, which gives officers involved with lower-level violations a chance for training and coaching to address the causes of the mistakes.
And the South Platte River Committee got an update from Denver Public Health and Environment on their water quality programs. They’re keeping an eye on the Platte River and Cherry Creek to see what kinds of pollutants enter the water and how to keep them out.
