The mile-high city is deceptive, a lush green urban canopy grows on a high-plains desert. What makes this possible? Denver’s Office of the City Forester (OCF) promotes health, safety, welfare and quality of life for Denver residents by creating a sustainable urban forest. The OCF is responsible for the overall quality of Denver’s urban forest, the preservation of trees, and establishing standards for tree removal, maintenance and planting within parks, designated parkways and public right-of-way (streets). Denver's Office of the City Forester actively engages in education and outreach efforts to help residents understand the importance of Denver’s urban forest and encourages them to become partners in its growth and resilience.
