This week, Denver City Council passed a contract to replace the police station and garage for district 6, located at 1566 North Washington St in Council District 10. The project is being funded by the voter approved Elevate Bond Project.
The Community Planning and Housing Committee heard a briefing on Denver’s strategies for getting people experiencing homelessness into shelter during extreme cold events. THere’s also a new emergency family shelter located at 280 Columbine St. In Council District 9. It’ll provide a place for about 20 families experiencing homelessness.
And the Finance and Business Committee has withdrawn a proposed update to change Denver’s Labor Acknowledgment, which would have expanded it to include immigrant and American-born workers of African, Asian, Latin American descent who were exploited, excluded, and terrorized because of their race, religion, or place of origin.
